Hydrogen Production, Storage & Carriers

Materials to selectively bind and release hydrogen via chemical reactions

Hydrogen is a clean and efficient fuel that has the potential to replace traditional fossil fuels in many applications, including transportation. However, one of the challenges of using hydrogen as a fuel is its low density, which makes it difficult to store and transport. To overcome this challenge, researchers have been exploring different hydrogen storage and carrier technologies. Hydrogen carriers are a approach to hydrogen storage by using organic compounds that can absorb and release hydrogen through chemical reactions.  One example of a hydrogen carrier is ammonia, which can be produced from renewable sources and transported using existing infrastructure. Ammonia can be converted back into hydrogen using a catalyst, which makes it a promising option for hydrogen storage and transport.
