AEROXIDE® fumed alumina controls electrostatic charging of fine powders
The Challenge
Fine powders tend to pick up electrostatic charges when being conveyed and processed. In case of polymers the electrostatic charge is often negative. Electrostatically charged powders tend to stick to surfaces and exhibit reduced powder flow. Electrostatic charging slows down industrial processes and poses a significant safety risk.
Evonik’s Smart Solutions
Due to its positive tribo charge, AEROXIDE® fumed alumina can counteract and neutralize the negative surface charge of many fine powders. With its fine particles, AEROXIDE® fumed alumina allows particularly easy and efficient incorporation into fine powders. Very small amounts are sufficient to prevent sticking of powders to surfaces and to improve their flow properties.
