AEROXIDE® improves the dielectric properties of insulation films
The Challenge
Plastic films provide good dielectric properties and are often used for insulating electric devices and components, e.g. film condenser, or motor winding. Commonly used polymers are PET, PP, PI and PC, which feature different characteristics regarding dielectrics, chemical and thermal resistance. In some end applications the performance of the pure polymer is limited, for example when high voltage is applied or high voltage endurance is required.
Evonik’s Smart Solutions
AEROXIDE® fumed alumina helps to improve the dielectric strength and corona resistance of electric insulation films. Improved thermal conductivity and heat dissipation is a further benefit when using fumed alumina.
AEROXIDE® fumed alumina can be incorporated in a liquid starting component (monomer/ oligomer) or in a polymer melt by a thermoplastic compounding process.
