Peracetic acid is widely used in chemical synthesis, functioning as an intermediate, process aid in fermentation, and oxidizing agent in other unit operations. It solubilizes easily in water and decomposes into only oxygen, water, carbon dioxide, and acetic acid. Evonik offers high-strength equilibrium peracetic acid grades, which are ideal for chemical synthesis and can be used for a wide range of oxidation reactions. They have no halogenated by-products or transition metals, and they generate selective reactions by nonradical pathways.
