The Foresight unit identifies new growth fields for Evonik and addresses the strategic issues of the future.

In order to make assumptions about the future, we need to look at the decisions and actions taken today that will determine the future. The Foresight team of Evonik monitors indicators such as investments, technological developments, or changing regulations and, based on these, develops a realistic view of possible future scenarios. It applies established methods such as the exploratory scenario approach or STEEP^* trend analysis along with innovative workshop concepts.

Gamechanger 2035

Nothing is as constant as change: Today's emerging social change, potential technological breakthroughs and proposed regulatory interventions will change the rules of the game, the need for innovation and organizations in the future. For this reason, the team is scanning for the second time since 2016 specifically for these so-called Gamechangers to prepare Evonik well in advance.

Sustainable Food Future(s) 2040

Feeding the world's population is one of the great challenges of our time. The Foresight Team developed a holistic outlook on the future of the global food value chain and derived new innovation opportunities for a sustainable food production.

The Future(s) of the Specialty Chemicals Industry

Based on over 100 interviews with internal and external experts from the fields of chemistry, politics, business and futurology as well as numerous workshops and analyses of international futurology studies, the team developed scenarios for the possible future of specialty chemicals in the year 2040.

Gamechanger 2017/2018

Game changers are developments that have the potential to completely change the rules of existing markets and companies. The team identified game changers and derived 39 action areas for Evonik, which will now serve as a source of inspiration, basis of discussion, and future orientation guide in the Group.
