SMP

Silanes are mandatory components in SMP (silyl-modified polymer) technologies serving three functional reasons: 

• Adhesion promotion: Silanes act as highly efficient adhesion promoters ensuring reliable bonding to a wide range of similar and dissimilar substrates, even to critical plastic substrates. 

• Structural role: Silanes are essential building blocks within the SMP binder itself contributing directly to the performance and integrity of the system. 

• Moisture scavenging: Silanes function as effective moisture scavengers, improving the storage stability of adhesive & sealant (A&S) product and safeguarding product quality over time. 

These properties make SMP adhesives particularly effective in demanding applications. For example, in flooring applications, they strengthen adhesion between parquet and mineral substrates throughout the service lifetime. Silane-based A&S products are also widely used in industrial assembly Such as in the manufacture of washing machines and dryers, where durable bonding and sealing are essential.
