Membranes for sustainable energy

Hydrogen is enjoying global attention because of its potential role in transitions to clean energy. Evonik is making an important contribution to the sustainable gas industry with innovative membrane technologies for the production of green hydrogen and efficient hydrogen recovery. Under the brand name DURAION®, Evonik has developed a membrane that enables the cost-efficient production of green hydrogen using alkaline membrane water electrolysis (AEM electrolysis). The SEPURAN® Noble gas separation membrane also favors the transport of hydrogen in existing natural gas pipelines by enabling plant operators to extract hydrogen from hydrogen/natural gas mixtures.
