Defense aircraft and rotorcraft structures
ROHACELL® HERO — Polymethacrylimide (PMI)-based, heat-treated structural foam core material that offers excellent elongation at break properties and remains robust and durable for the lifetime of the aircraft. Surface impact is easily visible during inspections and rework/repairs are simple, as core damage does not extend beyond the initial impact locations, and there is no water ingress, as can occur with honeycomb core structures. The also material exhibits superior thermal insulating properties.
ROHACELL® HERO is recommended for ultra‑light sandwich composites in wings, landing gear doors, radomes, vertical and horizontal stabilizers, ailerons and other aircraft areas subject to surface impact damage.
Stealth aircraft and other applications requiring electromagnetic shielding

The heat-treated HT grades can be used with BMI resins, and can be used at temperatures of 190C.
