Evonik supplies hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid for the decontamination of rooms, surfaces, equipment and medical devices. Our PERSYNT® Steri and PERACLEAN® Steri grades are manufactured in accordance with EN ISO 13485, which simplifies the CE application process for medical device manufacturers. (Evonik does not hold a CE mark and does not sell medical devices.) In the European Union, our biocidal products are authorized under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation 528/2012.
How our oxidant chemistries behave after use
After use, hydrogen peroxide catalytically decomposes into oxygen and water. Peracetic acid breaks down into water, oxygen and acetic acid – the substance that gives vinegar its tart taste. These decomposition profiles are one reason peroxide-based chemistries are used in applications where chlorinated by-products such as AOX are to be avoided.

- Certified low carbon footprint options – In Europe, Evonik offers peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide with a significantly reduced product carbon footprint. The reduction is calculated using a mass balance approach in line with ISO 22095-2:2026 and the TfS PCF Guideline 2024 and is certified by TÜV Rheinland. The LCF grades are chemically identical to the conventional versions – no change in specification, performance or regulatory status – and enable customers to account for Scope 3 reductions via an LCF pass.
- Flexible application routes – Wiping, immersion bath, vapor or spray, and in combination with other oxidants such as ozone.

- PERSYNT® – Pharmaceutical-grade hydrogen peroxide for medical device sterilization, cleanroom decontamination and aseptic processing. PERSYNT® 600 LTS is designed for machine-based reprocessing of heat-sensitive medical devices.
- PERACLEAN® – Peracetic acid solutions with antimicrobial activity against bacteria, yeasts, molds and viruses, effective at low concentrations and low temperatures. PERACLEAN® 5 Steri is recommended for endoscope and hemodialysis applications.
