Silanes such as DYNASYLAN® are used in the production of PEX. They act as crosslinkers to chemically bond the polymer chains, making the material significantly more resistant to mechanical stress, temperatures, and chemical influences. Silane crosslinked PEX pipes, for example, show much better creep behavior than non-crosslinked polyethylene-HD-pipes, thereby allowing long-term service temperatures of 90°C.
