RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers for dermal fillers

Evonik’s RESOMER® portfolio of highly pure bioresorbable polymers, such as Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), polycaprolactone (PCL) and polydioxanone (PDO), is becoming increasingly popular in fillers in medical aesthetics due to their high biocompatibility and excellent biorevitalizing performance.

PLA-based materials have a scientifically proven impact on the activity of fibroblasts in the extracellular matrix to produce collagen type I and collagen type III, which improves both skin firmness and skin elasticity. The polymer leads to an increased production of collagen through a controlled inflammatory reaction.

Our POLYMER VS series are addition curing silicones that can be used to manufacture barbed sutures used in aesthetic dermatology practice. These silicones offer excellent mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, elongation and tear resistance. They also have a low coefficient of friction, which facilitates the insertion and removal of the sutures. Moreover, they are biostable and resistant to degradation by body fluids and enzymes.
